JUNIOR CRCIKET PROGRAM IN OTTAWA – SUMMER 2012
Background
Our mission is to develop a sustainable and a successful cricket community environment, which allows cricketers to develop and progress to the highest level. Nepean Cricket Club (NCC) was established on November 19th, 2007 as a multicultural and a non profitable community conscious sports organization and it registered as a not for profit sports organization in Ontario. We are proud member of Ottawa Valley Cricket Council (OVCC). OVCC is a governor general’s patronized Cricket Council which organizes high level of League Cricket at Rideau Hall since 1867. Our home ground is located just south of Ottawa Hospital General Campus on Linda Lane. NCC is strongly involved with Community Activities since 2007 and promoted cricket within the Ottawa community by conducting winter cricket clinics for kids partnering with other community organization. Our program Coordinators and coaches of the junior cricket clinic program are professional cricket players who are playing for more than 15 years in the Ottawa Valley Cricket Council.
Cricket Clinic is aim to provide:
- Basic batting, bowling and fielding techniques
- Real game environment, where all children will get a chance to play on cricket pitch
- A safe and enjoyable environment, where all children are valued regardless of background, experience, or ability
- A Fun, skill based , structured program
- Development of social skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, confidence and self esteem
- All children will have an enjoyable and educationally sound experience.
Duration: Every Tuesdays, From Tuesday, May 15th 2012 to Tuesday, June 12th 2012, from 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
(Depends on continuing interests, sessions will be continued throughout the summer!)
Location: Barrhaven Cricket Ground and or Linda Lane Cricket Ground

Cost: There is no fee for these sessions and all the cricket equipments will be provided.
Safety Procedures: Our number one priority is kids Safety. All efforts will be made to ensure all children’s safety. This involves:
- Information email to confirm clinic booking and outline safety procedures
- Experienced NCC members as Clinic Coordinators and Head Coaches
- Safe drop off and pick up areas
- Coordinator remaining at clinic venue until all children have been picked up
- Roll marking at beginning and end of each day of clinics
- Clinic Coordinator being informed by parents if child is arriving late or needs to leave early
- Encouraging good manners, thoughtfulness and kindness to others at clinics
- First aid kit to be at the clinics
- Tennis ball and soft bats will be used to play
- Children wearing a sun hat
- Providing sunscreen
- Insisting on clinic participants wear appropriate safety equipment during the training.
Heat Policy (it should not be an issue at this time but policy in place for safety purposes) 38 degrees and above the following procedures will be adopted:
- Children will receive information on importance of being sensible in hot weather
- Shade areas will be used for activities
- Activity intensity will be reduced
- Sessions will be limited to a maximum of 45 minutes. Drink breaks will be more frequent
- Children at any time can rest or have a drinks break when needed
- During breaks children will be asked to rest & there is to be no activity during this time
- Clinic Coordinator will communicate with group coaches about any children affected by heat.
Water will be supplied for children to refill drink bottles
Parents can assist by:
- Ensuring their child has a sun hat
- Ensuring their child has sunscreen on
- Not sending when your child is sick
